Two cool shows tonight

John Vanderslice

The Men

Yes, it’s a Tuesday, and the weather might be kind of nasty, but don’t let that keep you out of the clubs tonight.  There are a couple of solid options that are worth the effort.

Eddie’s Attic is hosting indie stalwart John Vanderslice and local singer-songwriter Richard Parsons.  Vanderslice has been releasing albums stuffed with sharp lyrics and distinctive analog production for over a decade, and Eddie’s should be a great fit for him.  Get there early to see local favorite Parsons.

If you’re looking for something more aggressive, Brooklyn’s The Men will be bringing their dismantled punk rock to 529.  The band keeps one foot planted in classic punk and hardcore, but they vary their approach with stretches of blackened sludge and the occasional stab at honest-to-god rock accessibility.  It’s a strange combination, but a successful one.  Locals WYMYNS PRYSYN headline, with Bukkake Boys and Skin Jobs rounding out the bill.
